Pure Captures is a professional photography studio based in Ozark, MO, serving Springfield MO, Branson MO, & the rest of the southwest Missouri area. Professional photographer Rebecca Block captures birth photography & portraits including maternity, newborn, baby, & family portrait photography.
My photography is a mix of photojournalistic/lifestyle type mixed with some "posed" portraits, using mostly natural, available light. I aim to catch not only your outer beauty but your true inner beauty as well....your personality...your emotions. I specialize in storytelling images of anything baby-related, taking the images & developing them to a piece of artwork for your home. We often create printed wall or gift portraits, storyboards, canvas wrap clusters, storybooks, or basically whatever you can imagine.
Feel free to contact me about Food-related photography projects as well! (Professional food photography, restaurant photography, farm photography, and menu design)
I am really laid-back, as you can probably tell from my work. I want you to interact with each other, because that's when your best portraits come out! You'll hear me say, "Make yourself comfortable over there," or "Just ignore me" quite a bit....maybe occasionally making a suggestion to lean on something or move your hand a tad. I love to have fun with you and make you comfortable, and I hope that you have a great time as I capture your personality!
If you're wondering a little bit about me, I grew up around St. Louis area and moved to Springfield to attend college. I majored in art education and took a black and white photography film class. (That's right, film - who does that anymore, right??) I've always loved taking pictures, but that class taught me so much more about light, value, contrast, and (of course) cameras. After dropping my digital point-and-shoot in a lake (long story involving a beloved fish named Kirby), I spent a ridiculous amount of money on film and developing until getting a DSLR a few years later. At that point, Matt, a big media and communications guy, picked up the still camera as well. After doing lots of photography for friends and personal practice, Pure Captures was born!
Our son, Patrick, was born at home in September, 2009. He was my inspiration for getting into all things babies & birth! He's our little assistant and sometimes he comes on shoots with us. He will probably think you're hilarious and laugh at you during your session, but don't take it personally.
In our free time, we like to do outdoor family stuff, like camp and hike. We love to travel new places and try new restaurants! I really like to cook & would jump at the chance to bake a gourmet cake or meal for you. (In fact, ask me about Photo Picnics!) I pretty much like all things related to the creative world. Mixed media painting and sewing top her list of creative things (after photography of course). I teach youth and adult art classes at the YMCA. I am involved with the Friends of Missouri Midwives and am a trained doula just waiting on my certificate to be returned from DONA International.
